Fundamentals of Mixing course (mixingwithmike.com)

Reverb and effects part 1: Drums and perc

If 3-d depth isn't created to some degree with the staging of the compression, the equalization and the early reflections, including short delays and chorus effects, if reverb is added with no depth it will just mush together the original sound. Reverb cannot add depth if there is no space for it to exist in. This also includes panning and equalization, for front/back and left/right spacing, and compression for height and some front/back spatialization. If there is enough separation, specialization and staging, then the stage is set for adding reverb and other effects

The Study of Counterpoint (https://tinyurl.com/yymkezy7)

Continuing on with Second species counterpoint. My analytical-musical brain is getting used to writing out counterpoint exercises. Looking forward to seeing how this will translate into my upcoming round of electronic music production. Also, I have my next composition lesson on Wednesday, 7/26/23, and I plan on presenting my examples for critique:

I think counterpoint should be understood by more musicians. Developing a linear framework of balancing multiple melodic lines opens up so many possibilities for harmonic progressions and the resulting framework is infinitely adaptable to so many styles of music, not just classical composition. It has an added benefit of keeping the mind sharp.

Composition:

Focusing on electronic music production for now.

Electronic Music:

I have started work on two eps:

Reconstructive Facial Surgery:

Will be produced in FL Studio. Very controlled voltage heavy material. Here is the functioning tracklist and cover art file:

Thoughts On Mental Health:

Will be produced in Reason. More ambient/free rhythmic style industrial. Here is the functioning track list. Still looking for appropriate cover art. Might need to design myself:

These projects are nascent, and not even close to release, but work is happening.
